Printmaking: Exploring the Monotype
Dates: 12–15 September 2025
Time: 10am–4pm
Age/ability: Adults, all abilities welcome
Tutors: Phoebe Stannard & Sam Halstead
Course Description:
Monotype is a dynamic and expressive printmaking process that sits between painting, drawing, and print. This four-day course invites participants to explore a wide range of techniques — including direct, reductive, and additive methods, masks, stencils, chine collé, and two-plate colour printing — with a new focus each day.
Using inspiration from the Cornish landscape, the sculpture garden, and the studio environment, students will be encouraged to develop their own imagery, building a distinctive series of one-off prints with atmosphere and depth.
All printing will take place in our bespoke print studio on the comfortable and versatile gear-driven No.3 Ironbridge press — ideal for achieving a wide range of creative effects.
Group size is limited to 6 students to ensure space and individual support. Most materials are included (specialist paper available at cost). Please bring waterproofs, messy clothes or an apron, and a packed lunch.
